Creating a choir
Set up a new choir, give it a name and automatically become its choir director. The referral code can only be entered while creating it.
Web + app
Do you direct a choir, or just want to try cori out? Then you can set up your own choir in a matter of seconds. Whoever creates a choir automatically becomes its choir director and can then invite members, upload songs and plan appointments.
As the creator you're the choir director and have full rights in the choir. What exactly that means and how you hand rights to others is explained under Roles and permissions in the choir.
How to set up a choir
Open the join-or-create selection (as long as you're not in any choir, cori greets you with “Welcome to cori!” and exactly this selection; later you reach it via the plus sign or the choir switcher) and choose Create Choir.
Give your choir a name. The name is the only thing the choir can't be created without — everything else is optional.
If you've received a referral code from another choir, enter it here. The code is exactly 8 characters long and earns you both bonus months.
Confirm with Create Choir. cori sets the choir up, the free trial starts from that moment and you land straight in the setup (see below).
You can only enter the referral code while creating the choir — it can't be added to an existing choir afterwards. So if you have a code, enter it right here. How the referral programme works is explained under Referral programme.
The setup right after creating your choir
After creating it you don't land on the home screen but in a short setup. In four steps it takes you to a choir that's ready to go. At the top you can see where you are at any moment: Voices, Invite, Rehearsal and Song.
cori asks: “Which voices do you sing?” Under Template, pick the setup that fits, SATB, SAB, SSA or TTBB for instance. Your singers pick their own voice from exactly these voices when they join, which is why this step comes before inviting them. If no template fits, you set the voices up yourself via Set up your own voices. SATB is preselected, so Next takes it over with a single click. You can change the voices at any time later in the choir settings.
Under “Get your singers in” you'll see a QR code you can have people scan at the next rehearsal. Share via WhatsApp prepares a ready-made message with the invitation link, Copy puts the link on your clipboard and Share link sends it via another app (in the browser only if it supports sharing).
At “When do you rehearse?” you pick the weekday and the time. cori shows you when the first rehearsal takes place (“Every week, starting …”) and, with Add rehearsal, puts a weekly recurring 90-minute appointment in the calendar. Your singers see it right away and can accept.
Finally it's about “Your first song”: with Add song you upload sheet music or recordings. If you'd rather do that later, end the setup with Go to home.
From the invite step onwards you can leave the setup at any time with I'll do this later and you land on the home screen. As long as your choir has fewer than three members, the invite step waits for you there right at the top as the “Get your singers in” card. The “Set up your choir” checklist shows you the rest.
After the setup
Your choir starts with a free trial — details under Free trial. After that you can decide at your leisure whether to carry on. The next steps — inviting members, adding songs and appointments — are gathered in the Checklist: setting up your choir.
